The Amish: Peace among Chaos
The Amish slew ar one of the more unique and intriguing cultural groups among the face pack of different cultures. The life choices, values, and beliefs of the Amish are guided by the record book Gelassenheit, which is a German word meaning submission, guiding Amish to be quiet, calm, peaceful, and accepting of Gods will for their people (Kraybill, 2001). These agriculturists live an interesting way of sustaining their families and communities without the dependency of modern conveniences, such as electricity. The Amish social organization provides strong family and community relationships with very puny conflict. The typical Amish family is patriarchal with handed-down gender roles that strengthen the family fastening because of the simplicity of the lives they lead. By choosing not to use automobiles, by utilize horse-drawn farm machinery to cultivate their land, and by limiting interactions with outsiders, this separates them from the high technology culture of modern life.
While it is becoming increasingly harder to accomplish, the Amish crap avoided adapting to the traditional American culture and are adhering to their simplistic and traditional beliefs, values, and way of life, living calm and peace amplyy among the utter madhouse that is American society.
Religion and custom are the driving army behind the culture of Amish communities. The Amish adhere strictly to the understood constitute of expectations for its customs and rules, known as Ordnung.
