Annie Hall Analysis

Woody Allen opens with facing the cinema audience directly and tells them that deuce laughs summarize his life. One is the classic from Freud and Grouche Marx: I would never hope to belong to any club that would have someone give care me for a member. In the other joke, a tourist at a Catskills resort complains ab extinct how terrible the provender is. And in such small portions, her listener adds. As Allen explains, life is resembling that: full of loneliness and misery and suffering and unhappiness and its all over much too quickly. At the stop over of the film, Alvy Singer (the character now distinguishable from Allen) recounts another joke in voice-over. A man tells a psychiatrist that his pal thinks himself a chicken. Why dont you turn him in? asks the analyst. I would, but I subscribe to the eggs. Both food jokes make the same point ab emerge life and gentlemans gentleman relationships: Theyre totally irrational and crazy and absurd, but I guess we keep going through them because of us need the eggs.

At the start of that opening monologue we do not know whether to take the speaker as Allen himself or as a fictional character.

The film presents Alvy sifting the pieces of the relationship through my mind trying to figure out where did the screw-up come. During the course of the film we watch Annie (played by Diane Keaton) rear from nervous country mouse to poised woman and appareled singer. Their affair ends, is resumed, and ends again when Annie moves to Los Angeles to advance her singer...If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
