After reading some information about the Algerian contend I became horrified to hear of the things that occurred during this war. It was civil war that was for independence against the French after they increased taxes to help commencement the costs of WWII. After the FLN, (Front de Liberation Nationale), was organized there were revolts against the French in rural areas and event some forts where the French militia was stationed. The French viewed these revolts in a really similar route that Abraham Lincoln viewed the revolts during the Civil War and the French responded with massive delineate to crush these spring uplions. In retaliation to these rebellions 1,200 to 12,000 Muslims and Algerians were killed by French troops. vengeance to the retaliation occurs when the FLN tries to draw international attention by targeting urban areas with higher populations. This cruel and ruthless war for independence spanned from 1954 to 1962 where its estimated that just below one million Algerians and French soldiers were killed. I was appalled to see this many state had to die for independence, save then I had to think about how many throng had to give their lives for Americans to have independence from the British.
