Abstract

Chicago has been one of the most corrupted cities in the U.S. since the nineteenth century. policy-making experts point to a policy-making culture thats been in outrank for more than 100 years (Engber 2006). Political machine ability has always been the style of government that has ruled Chicago. Its large unforesightful immigrant community made it easier for political leaders and mob bosses to hit power through patronage. Under this style of power, officials will go away jobs, money and contracts in return of political support. In Chicago, the Irish, for example, were abandoned police work, and the Italians jobs at the transit authority (Engber 2006). But, all these patronages and rot have taken four governors to prison for corruption charges.

The express Chicago politics is a cliché used to describe the corruption scandals that have been taking place in Chicago since the 19th century. Chicago politics have been dominated by a single caller system controlled by a democratic political machine.



A political machine is a party organization, headed by a single boss or lesser autocratic group that commands enough votes to maintain political and administrative control of a city, county, or state (Quattrochi 2009). Indeed, no gender, word form or ethnic group has ever eluded the power of political bosses and political patronage. Political patronage is to give rewards for the exchange of political support. The first person to be none as a political machine was Michael Cassius McDonald. He was the founder of the Chicago political machine. He will bribe judges, policemen, mayors and workers, in order to be able to carry out his illegal work conglomerate in gambling and nightlife.
