In the opening of the play, we see that small towns father has died. It is somewhat implied that Hamlet believes it was his uncles doings. Claudius, the accused murderer, is now king, and is married to Hamlets mother. We describe this by Hamlets use of a b wish tone while referring to this event. Hamlet waits way to late to of all time say anything to the queen, his mother, about how he feels. He doesnt regulate her automatically. This example of inaction is one big factor to Hamlets madness which results in the death of many characters in the play.
As the play continues, we see the ghost of Hamlets father approach Hamlet. He informs Hamlet that his brother was in fact the snake that killed him.
