One of the popular books that students are asked to write about when they are doing complete school papers on pride and prejudice is Jane Austin’s book titled pride and prejudice.
In this book, the author illustrates that manners have the powers to influence both the society and other impressions of characters. All through the book, many references are made with the aim of emphasizing just how important manners are in the society. Austin illustrates that pride and prejudice determines wrong first impressions by not representing the one’s character in a honest manner.
Mrs. Bennet, Mr. Darcy and the Bingley sisters give the wrong first impression that is founded on the characters’ manners. Throughout the whole book, the first impression of Mr. Darcy is shown as a prideful, antisocial and conceited man and these characteristics he shows in both private and public places.
The character of Mr. Darcy is settled upon at the first ball which he is in attendance because of his actions. Mr Darcy was basically a marked man because of the manners that he exhibited in Nether field. The manners that are exhibited by Mr Darcy at the ball greatly shoked many of the people who were attending given the edict which were needed at balls was not shown by Dracy.
The first impression which Mr. Darcy sends throughout his stay is incorrect portrayal of Mr. Darcy’s true character. However, the character that Mr. Darcy portrayed at Pemberly was actually his true character, that of compassion and politeness. Mr. Darcy did not receive the correct first impression of his character in the eyes of Elizabeth.
