Who does not love a fairy tale? Tchaikovsky was hesitant at first because the reaction of his previous ballet, Swan Lake, had been less than enthusiastic, but he went through with it anyways. Once the performance was complete, Vsevolozhsky, Tchaikovsky and choreographer, Marius Pepita, met up nearly time in 1888 to collaborate their ideas on the ballets production. Tchaikovsky completed the composition of his music towards the middle of 1889 which gave Pepita time to broadcast his choreography.
Pepita finished the choreography in September and four months subsequently the ballet was ready to be performed in front of an audience. The ballet had a main focus and it was on the conflicting forces of straightforward and curse, with the unsloped ultimately winning in the end which is very similar to our society. It also relates to our society being that there are many young women rebelling against their parents just like with The Sleeping Beauty. The good being the sweet and gentle Lilac Fairy and the evil being the dark and heartless Carabosse. The Sleeping Beauty is a collaboration of dance, music, and design that continues to influence ballet today.
